Actuation
of axes of rotation
Axes
of rotation, for instance for swivel tables, swivel heads and Wissner´s
5-dimensional systems, are mainly at use for Torque engines. This is a direct
actuation
system, whereas the stator diameter is about the nominal diameter of
the aggregate. Since the engine functions without any gearing it has many
advantages in
comparison to engines with gears. The direct actuation does not
need any reversion mirror so that
the axes can be used for most extreme
dynamics. Acceleration exists up to 100 m/s² (10 g)
!
Because of fully digital regulators the engine is completely maintenance-free.
Additionally, the dynamic is very good - this is of special importance for
changing
working diameters, as for 5-axial treatments for example.
The Torque engine requires quite a demanding security concept. As to fulfil
the
requirements according rebound stops are included in the system, which prevent
any extreme or dangerous
rotation to happen in case of an emergency, for example
a total break-down of the electronic
system.
